Overcome the Assumption of Growth

johnmaxwell15lawsgrowth

A top reason people do not grow: the assumption we will grow automatically. Instead, we must act intentionally on ways to improve our capacities in addition to living in the flow.

“When we are children, our bodies grow automatically….  I think many people carry into adulthood a subconscious belief that mental, spiritual, and emotional growth follows a similar pattern….  The problem is that we don’t improve by simply living. We have to be intentional about it.” (page 3)

–John C. Maxwell

I suggest a daily ritual of PLAN (Pray. Listen. Act. Now.).

Include as your Pray asking how you can improve your capacities to get better at fulfilling your callings. Listen to what you hear as you “look in the mirror” assessing results you are getting and experiences you are having. Act Now can include writing a goal for developing yourself and one or more actions you can take to succeed or improve your direction in your plan for life.

Review important parts of your plan daily to internalize your inspirations and improve your stated intentions. The self accountability is part of personal leadership.

I believe, two of the most important questions each of us can answer:

God, what would you have me do?

and

Now, what would my best-self do?

I  printed these on a wrist band to wear as a positive reminder.

May you Plan and Lead Your Life
